Classic Historical Venues

Lakewold Gardens offers landscape architecture by Thomas Church, overlooking beautiful Gravelly Lake, and surrounded by rare and native plants, State Champion trees, over 900 rhododendrons, 30 Japanese maples and stunning statuary on 10 acres which include a state historic landmark Georgian-style mansion and historic architecture.

Thornewood Castle is a 500-year-old Tudor Gothic historic mansion currently available for events, weddings and as a bed and breakfast.

Golf & Disc Golf Courses

American Lake Veterans Golf Course is a nine hole golf course with front nine/back nine T-Boxes and dedicated to providing, teaching and promoting the benefits of golf to veterans.

Fort Steilacoom Golf Course is a fun, 9 hole golf course and features dual tees for an 18 hole round.

Fort Steilacoom Disc Golf Course is a beautiful course in a natural, quiet, wooded 40 acre setting and located within the Fort Steilacoom Golf Course.

RMG Club at Oakbrook is a public golf course with memberships available. Close to suburban amenities and family friendly, their updated Oakhouse Restaurant has a diverse menu in a beautiful setting.

Tacoma Golf and Country Club , the oldest private golf club west of the Mississippi River, kept in impeccable conditions, with the goal to get members out on the course within twenty minutes of arrival.

History and Reenactments

Historic Fort Steilacoom Association seeks to interpret and preserve the fort’s four remaining structures, which began construction in 1849, and provides regular public events and reenactments.

Lakewood Historical Society & History Museum brings to history of local life from its prehistoric past to the present time through displays of artifacts, photos, maps, documents and memorabilia and monthly gatherings and events.
